Associate Professor Susanne DaviesHead of Dept Social Inquiry, Crime,Justice & Legal Studies
Dr Davies is an historian by training but specializes in socio-legal studies and criminology. Her teaching and research interests span critical criminology, cultural studies, punishment and penality, socio-legal history, and gender and sexuality studies. Much of her work is concerned with exploring embodied experiences of crime and punishment and how these are rendered possible and meaningful within broader social discourses, structures and practices. She is similarly concerned with how law - as knowledge and practice - relates to broader patterns of social relations, representation and power.
