Shaun Canning Academic, Archaeology

Shaun specializes in the management of complex large-scale cultural heritage management projects, providing strategic heritage advice, delivering cultural heritage management plans and due diligence assessments, undertaking native title research, Indigenous community consultation management and advice, and all manner of Archaeological or Anthropological assessments. Shaun has been involved extensively in the completion of several hundred cultural heritage management projects.

Shaun holds a B.A. degree majoring in Cultural Heritage Studies and Anthropology, a B.AppSc. (Hons) degree in Parks, Recreation and Heritage, and a Ph.D. in Australian Indigenous Archaeology (La Trobe), specializing in predictive modelling and cultural heritage management in southern Victoria. Shaun has extensive experience in Indigenous cultural heritage management in the resources, urban development, infrastructure and public land management sectors, alongside considerable experience in community consultation and Aboriginal education. Shaun is an Honorary Research Associate of the Archaeology Program at La Trobe University, a member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) EnviroDevelop National Taskforce, a member of the Indigenous Relations Working Group Committee of the Minerals Council of Australia, and a member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia EnviroDevelop National Taskforce. Shaun is a menber of a number of other professional organisations. Shaun is a fully qualified 'cultural heritage advisor' meeting all the requirements of the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006.
