Dr Stephen Polgar Academic, Public Health

Dr. Polgar has had a long-standing interest in Neuro-Psychology, Psycho-Pharmacology in relation to nicotine use, ethics, and methodological issues in the applied neurosciences and public health.

The recent focus of Steve's research has been to develop a conceptual framework suitable for translating the discoveries of stem cell research into viable therapies for brain disorders. He has contributed by publishing literature reviews, critiques of the methodology and ethics, and proposing a new model for functional recovery in patients with neural grafts.The new model informs further theory development and the design of inovative qualitative and quantitative research projects, particularly aiming to develop rehabilitation suitable for patients with neural grafts.
