Dr Yuan Gao Senior Research Officer, Institutional Research

Yuan is a senior research officer at the Centre for Higher Education Equity & Diversity Research (CHEEDR), La Trobe University. Prior to this position, she performed as a Research Officer at the Centre for International Research on Education Systems (CIRES), Victoria University, and was the evaluation officer for the ReMSTEP project at the Graduation School of Education, The University of Melbourne. Previously, she was a program manager in the International Office of Nankai University in China. She obtained her Doctoral degree from The University of Melbourne, and her M.Ed. with distinction from University of Bristol and the honours Bachelor degrees from Peking University, China. She has performed as research consultant for several projects, including the recent ones of‘Asian Humanities’ project for Australian Academy of Humanities and STEM: Country Comparison project for Australian Council of Learned Academies (ACOLA) with the contribution of two special country reports on STEM system in China and Taiwan. Her research interests are: globalisation and internationalisation of higher education, STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, and Chinese diaspora in Australia. Her recent works include papers on constructing and measuring university internationalisation in Journal of Studies in International Education and Higher Education and a forthcoming book of Measuring University Internationalisation: An Indicator Framework across National Boundaries, which will be published by Palgrave Macmillan.
