Dania Sarraj is a PhD candidate at La Trobe Business School. She holds a Master of Business (Accounting) with Honours from Auckland University of Technology (2018), where she also completed a Graduate Diploma in Business. Her master’s thesis, “Examining Materiality in Sustainability Reporting: Evidence from GCC Countries,” reflects her strong interest in corporate transparency and sustainability reporting. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Project Management from the Southern Institute of Technology, a Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching from Open Polytechnic, and a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) in Accountancy from the University of Damascus. She is a provisional member of CPA Australia.

Her published work includes research in the Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal. She is currently conducting quantitative research in the areas of corporate finance and corporate governance, with a manuscript under review for publication in the Journal of Business Finance & Accounting (JBFA). Through rigorous empirical analysis, her research contributes to a deeper understanding of how governance mechanisms and financial practices influence organizational performance, investment efficiency, and sustainability outcomes.

Dania actively engages with the academic community through conferences and research collaborations. She will participate in the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) Symposium and Conference 2026, where she will present her research findings and contribute to scholarly discussions by serving as a discussant for the work of other researchers. Through rigorous empirical analysis and academic engagement, her research contributes to advancing knowledge in accounting, finance, and governance.
