BIO

Fia Hamid-Walker is a transnational legal advisor and PhD candidate at Melbourne Law School. Her research examines international law, disaster governance, postcolonial theory, and legal subjectivity, with a particular focus on the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami in Aceh, Indonesia. Drawing on TWAIL, Critical Disaster Studies, and critical theory, she explores questions of memory, temporality, justice, and humanitarian legality in disaster response. Her work has been published in international venues and presented at leading academic forums, including workshops hosted by the Max Planck Institutes in Germany. She is also a Research Associate with Natural Hazards Research Australia.
