BIO

Felicity Collins was Reader/Associate Professor in Screen Studies in the Department of Creative Arts and English at La Trobe University until 2020. She is currently Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Languages and Culture.
She has published widely on feminist filmmaking and history, memory and the politics of reconciliation in Australian screen culture.
She is the author of The Films of Gillian Armstrong (AFI & ATOM); Australian Cinema After Mabo (Cambridge University Press, with Therese Davis); and editor with Jane Landman and Susan Bye of A Companion to Australian Cinema (Wiley Blackwell).
She has co-edited several themed journal issues, including Studies in Australasian Cinema (7. 2-3) on ‘Decolonising Screens’, and Continuum (31. 5) on ‘Rethinking Witnessing across History, Culture and Time’. She was chief investigator on the ARC Discovery project, ‘Screen Comedy and the National’, with Sue Turnbull and Susan Bye, and chief investigator with Eddie Custovic on the La Trobe RFA funded app project, ‘Where Do You Think You Are?’ (in partnership with University of South Australia, Victoria University and Greater Southern Rail). She worked with Hester Joyce on ‘Looking Again: Reframing the Inland’, supported by La Trobe’s Centre for the Study of the Inland, convening a screening-dialogue at Castlemaine State Arts Festival in 2019. She collaborated with Noel Maloney and Hester Joyce on a symposium on intercultural and intermedial performance, with papers published in a special issue of TEXT (62, 2021). She is currently writing a sole-authored book on remapping country through the Blak Wave of television drama series, from Redfern Now to Total Control.
