Henry is a PhD candidate specialising in electrochemical biosensors, with research spanning both environmental and biomedical diagnostics. His PhD work includes the development of a protein-based electrochemical sensor for point-of-need detection of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), the so-called "forever chemicals," using a protein-based sensing platform capable of detecting PFOA in water and whole blood at concentrations as low as 0.41 ng/L. He also works on electrochemical nucleic acid-based biosensors (ENABs) for breast cancer detection via microRNA liquid biopsy. In addition, Henry works on multiplexing electrochemical biosensors, aimed at enabling simultaneous detection of multiple biomarkers on a single platform. Henry's academic journey began with an Honours degree in Electrochemical Biosensors, and he currently works as an undergraduate laboratory demonstrator, mentoring and supporting students in practical laboratory settings. His work across environmental monitoring and cancer diagnostics reflects a broader commitment to advancing accessible, point-of-need sensing technologies for public health.
