BIO

Dr Hiep Thuan (Bill) Lu is a Research Associate in the ARC Research Hub for Protected Cropping (PC Hub). He completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering awarded by the University of Melbourne in December 2018. He has expertise in the field of solvent extraction for pharmaceutical and mining engineering applications, membrane technology, gas separation and carbon capture with research interests focusing on the development of high efficient, cost-effective and sustainable separation processes and the potentials to recover the valuable products in waste streams such as agriculture wastes and flue gas of the coal-fired power stations. He has been closely engaged in the development of extraction process to recover secondary metabolites from cannabis and opium tissues in ARC ITRH IH180100006 and ARC LP LP160101317 (cannabinoids extraction) and ARC LP LP160100182 (alkaloids extraction) projects.
