BIO

Ing Kong is a Professor in the Department of Engineering at La Trobe University, Australia. She currently serves as Deputy Associate Dean (Research and Industry Engagement) and Deputy Director of Graduate Research in the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences.

 

Prior to joining La Trobe University, she held postdoctoral positions at the National University of Malaysia (2009–2010) and RMIT University (2010–2011), followed by an academic role at the University of Nottingham, where she served as Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering from 2012 to 2017.

 

Her research focuses on advanced materials and manufacturing, particularly functional polymer composites, magnetic nanoparticles, carbon nanomaterials, superconductors, and additive manufacturing technologies. Her work also extends to sustainability and circular economy, including plastic recycling and waste-to-resource technologies.

 

Professor Kong has a strong track record in research leadership, having secured over $6 million in competitive research funding. She has authored and co-authored more than 100 publications, including edited books, book chapters, refereed journal articles, and conference proceedings. She is actively involved in the academic community as an editorial board member, peer reviewer, and conference chair/co-chair for numerous international events.

 

Her research is closely aligned with global sustainability goals, focusing on transforming waste into valuable resources and advancing innovative materials solutions across industries.
