BIO

Jessica is a PhD student at the Judith Lumley Centre, School of Nursing and Midwifery at La Trobe University. Her PhD supervisors are Dr Ashleigh Butler, A/Prof Bev Copnell, Prof Joseph Manning MBE (University of Leicester), and Dr Alyssia Haling (RCH PICU Consultant). 

Jess is completing her PhD project titled: ‘Siblings in PICU: An exploration of sibling inclusion and support when a child is critically ill.’ This project forms part of a larger study by Dr Ashleigh Butler, who was awarded an Australian Research Council DECRA to support her research into ‘Supporting the inclusion of siblings when a family is in crisis.’ 

Jess is an experienced Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse, working at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne since 2009. Jess has experience as a PICU Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Support Nurse, Outreach Nurse and Research Nurse Coordinator. Jess has an interest in improving care for patients and families in Paediatric Intensive Care.
