Currently, Jarrod is a Postgraduate Student in the Lyras Laboratory at the Biomedicine Discovery Institute at Monash University. His research focuses on understanding how pathogentic bacteria adapt and function within the gastrointestinal system; which aims to investigate a toxin locus and the contribution of toxin modulating disease.
Jarrod Martins is a member of the Australian Society of Microbiology and holds a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Biological Sciences (2021) and a Master of Science (2024) from La Trobe University within the Petrovski Laboratory. Jarrods masters research focused on microbial genetics of Streptococcal species and a novel parasitic bacterium. This project aimed to investigate a biological alternative to antibiotics as a potential therapeutic to treat Streptococcal infections.
