BIO
Jane McCaig is a lecturer in Exercise Physiology and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) in the Rural Health School. A current PhD candidate, her research focuses on the use of exercise on the acute medical ward to alleviate functional decline associated with a hospital admission. Jane has worked at La Trobe for over 10 years as both a lecturer and clinical practicum coordinator for the Masters of Exercise Physiology degree. Jane has over 20 years of clinical experience, in both public and private health care settings.
Jane has published in peer-reviewed healthcare journals. She has been an invited speaker at seminars and presented posters at national conferences. Currently Jane is a Doctor of Philosophy candidate at La Trobe University in the La Trobe Rural Health School. Interest in her research topic stems from a desire to give back to the profession by advocating for workforce development and growth of the discipline. With a dual role as a clinician and academic, Jane is well placed to provide understanding on the pressures of a clinical environment and is passionate about ensuring research has outcomes that can be directly applied to the workforce in a meaningful way.
