BIO

I am a PhD candidate with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space. I presently have two research interests, the first relating to the educators, facilitators, mentors, demonstrators and teachers who deliver science education. Many organizations such as science education centers, research institutes and universities employ researchers to help with teaching. I am interested in how these researchers take on the role of educator and how they build and maintain their education practice.

My second interest lays with critical thinking in the sciences and how educators can use critical thinking in their practice. This includes understanding what educators know and believe about critical thinking and how they encourage critical thinking in their students and how they use it to understand their own professional practice.

Prior to my PhD research, I researched the impacts of using 3D modelling technologies such as mixed reality models and 3D printed models to help visualize the invisible world of proteins, helping students avoid misconceptions and understand the threshold concept of biomolecular structure and function.
