Katherine Eljammas is a 3rd-year doctoral candidate at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute (ONJCRI) and La Trobe School of Cancer Medicine. Katherine completed her undergraduate studies at La Trobe University, receiving a first-class honours for a project undertaken at the ONJCRI, which investigated the immune landscape of virally-derived liver cancers. Her current research builds on this work by investigating gamma delta (γδ) T cells and the factors that influence their function, while assessing their potential as targets for immunotherapies in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) and its metastases. In addition to her doctoral project, Katherine is an active member of the research community at her institute, serving on committees focused on enhancing the student experience, as well as having a passion for diversity and equity within the institute and fostering external research collaborations domestically and internationally.
