BIO

Dr Kris Ivanovski is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at La Trobe University, with research expertise in macroeconomics, energy economics, financial markets, and applied econometrics. His work examines the economic drivers of energy transitions, carbon emissions, and systemic financial risks, often through innovative empirical methods.

 

Dr Ivanovski has published in leading A and A* international journals, including Energy Economics, Applied Energy, The World Economy, International Review of Economics & Finance, Journal of Cleaner Production, and the Journal of Commodity Markets, to name several. His research has advanced understanding of the Environmental Kuznets Curve, the role of human capital in energy consumption, and the macroeconomic implications of clean energy investment and climate-related risks. He serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Australasian Journal of Environmental Management and collaborates extensively with researchers across national and international institutions.

He has led or co-led various government-funded research projects, most recently serving as a chief investigator on the Quantum Enhanced Optimisation for Energy Efficient Data Centres project funded by the Australian Government – a pioneering initiative at the intersection of digital technology and energy efficiency. With over 2,500 citations and an h-index of 23 (Google Scholar, 2025), his work continues to inform policy debates on sustainable development, energy security, and economic resilience in a rapidly changing global landscape.

 

Dr Ivanovski is also a passionate educator and curriculum developer. He has designed and delivered a diverse portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, including Principles of Economics, Economic Data Analysis, Macroeconomics and Monetary Policy, Current Issues in Macroeconomic Policy, The Chinese Economy and Global Business, The Australian Economy, and Econometrics for Finance and Economics. His teaching combines conceptual economic frameworks with applied data analysis and real-world policy issues, equipping students with both analytical rigour and practical insight. His contributions to teaching excellence were formally recognized with a Dean's Citation Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning and is also a co-author of the widely adopted undergraduate textbook Principles of Macroeconomics (9th Edition, AU/NZ).
