Kolsoom Safari completed her training as a Registered Midwife in 2008 and graduated with a master’s degree in Midwifery Education in Iran in 2011. She completed her PhD at La Trobe University in 2023, focusing on the transition experience of Middle Eastern and North African qualified midwives in Australia. She was involved in several research projects in Iran and Iraq until her move to La Trobe University.
The primary focus of Kolsoom's research is to investigate the transition experiences of international midwives and to develop appropriate support to facilitate their professional integration. She is also interested in research on promoting maternal and newborn care.
