After completing a Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in Korea, I undertook a PhD using X-ray protein crystallography to research the structure and function relationship of enzymes and the potential drug design at the University of Sydney. After completion of my PhD study, I was awarded an NHMRC Early Career Fellowship and joined Professor Charlie Bond's group at the University of Western Australia in 2008 to commence my postdoctoral training. In 2014, I relocated to La Trobe University to join Dr Megan Maher's group as a senior postdoc where I expanded my research repertoire in membrane proteins. Awarded an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award in the following year, I began to set up my own research group. In 2018, I was awarded the Inaugural Tracey Banivanua Mar (TBM) Fellowship from La Trobe University.

My research interests lie in the area of gene regulation and DNA damage repair pathway. We are particularly interested in characterising the macromolecular complexes (protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid complexes) in the nucleus to understand their roles in gene regulation and DNA damage repair pathway.
