BIO

Natasha Darke is a PhD candidate at La Trobe’s Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health, and Society (ARCSHS). She is also a PACFA Certified Practicing Counsellor, and a Casual Academic in the Graduate Counselling & Psychotherapy Program (University of Adelaide). Across these roles, Natasha’s main interest is the diverse therapeutic and recovery needs of survivors of complex trauma, including Intimate Partner Violence, Coercive Control, Sexual Abuse, Conversion Practices, and Religious/Spiritual Abuse.

Natasha’s PhD research applies critical qualitative methodology to consider the cultural, political, and historical factors that have shaped Religious/Spiritual Abuse survivors’ experiences and treatment in counselling settings. In so doing, she aims to give voice to the diversity of needs and recovery journeys of victim-survivors.
