Dr Susler is the former Director of Postgraduate (Coursework) Programs at the Law School. She researches and teaches in appropriate dispute resolution (ADR) and contract law . Her doctoral thesis related to the approach of national courts to the jurisdiction of the arbitrators. Dr Susler has been the co-ordinator of Contract Law subjects in the Juris Doctor Program since its inception in 2016. She comes from private practice in commercial law and is an avid supporter of teaching appropriate dispute resolution skills to law students.

In 2004, she was awarded the Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London). She also graduated with the L.L.M. in Global Business Law from La Trobe University with high distinction and has been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor to the Supreme Court of Victoria.

This was followed by practice as a solicitor in commercial law which included advising on contractual disputes, civil litigation and other commercial law matters. Dr Susler is the founding member of the Law School Moot Court and instigated the first LTU law students' participation in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition. She coached the student teams for the first few years that followed including the Vis East and Vis Vienna Virtual Moots. She has also coached students for the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competitions and is the 2019 recipient of 'ADR Academic of the Year' Award awarded by the Australian Disputes Centre, for her services in promoting ADR to law students. Dr Susler is the recipient of commendations from the law school for her outstanding Student Feedback Survey results in teaching Contract Law in the Juris Doctor Program. She is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has been a director of a Cybersecurity company. She is also a AMDRAS accredited mediator and a member of the State Government's Multicultural Business Ministerial Council between 2018-2022. Ozlem was selected from among more than 800 applicants to participate in Leadership Victoria, Womens' Board Leadership Program in 2018.
