BIO

I received my PhD from UNSW at the Australian Defence Force Academy. My first book, based on my doctoral thesis, is titled Indigenous Literatures of Australia and India: A Trans-Indigenous Perspective (2026). My work also appears in the Journal of the Association for the Study of Australian Literature and edited books Life Writing and the Southern Hemisphere and The Culture of Dissenting Memory: Truth Commissions in the Global South. I have been a member of international scholarly networks such as the Southern Lives network at the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing and the thematic network project ‘Literary Cultures of the Global South’ based at Universität Tübingen, Germany.

My research and teaching expertise lies in Indigenous and (post)colonial literatures, with a particular interest in comparative literary studies. My teaching experience spans early modern to contemporary literature, including Shakespeare, Australian literature, modern American fiction, and literary theory. I am also interested in observing and studying the effects of generative AI on literary studies and, more generally, on higher education, with a view to helping students build evaluative judgement and a critical sense of the limits and possibilities of this evolving technology. My work on assessment design in the age of AI, which balances caution and pragmatism in the interests of both teachers and students, has been recognised by peers as a model of academic integrity in practice. I have also been commended for bringing an inclusive, culturally responsive approach to curriculum development.
