BIO

Professor Regina Belski is a senior member of the Discipline of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics and is the Associate Dean, Partnerships in the School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport. She is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian (AdvAPD), Fellow of Sports Dietitians Australia, and Registered Nutritionist. Professor Belski is a highly regarded researcher, award winning teacher and experienced clinician in dietetics with a focus on health across the lifespan and healthy ageing. Her research is multi-dimensional, cross disciplinary and collaborative and she leads significant work in four distinct, yet complimentary, areas: sports and performance nutrition, functional food, metabolic health and scholarship of learning and teaching. Her work has had a significant impact on informing numerous national and global policies and guidelines, including being cited in: WHO, FAO, Australian Institute of Sport, and Australian Government Department of Health documents across a wide range of nutrition-related areas.

 

Professor Belski has worked with elite athletes, including Olympic competitors, endurance athletes, runners, occupational athletes and AFL players amongst many others, providing expert guidance on performance nutrition, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. She is also the author of an internationally regarded textbook on sports nutrition, which is widely used in the education and training of future practitioners and athletes alike. Her research and professional work span sports dietetics practice, nutrition knowledge, food-body relationships, energy availability and dietary behaviours in specialised groups such as athletes and tactical operators and functional food.

 

Passionate about education and collaboration, Regina has extensive experience in building and nurturing partnerships with external organisations, including: clinical partners, industry, employers, sporting organisations, higher education providers and international collaborators.
