BIO

Aotearoa‑born of Tongan heritage, with Fijian, Samoan, and Uvean descent, Dr Ruth (Lute) Faleolo is an Australian‑based Pasifika scholar whose leadership is grounded in Indigenous Pacific values, reciprocity, and relational ethics (vā). Her positionality informs her pioneering use of eTalanoa and Talanoa Vā, shaping research, practice, and policy across education and health.

Dr Faleolo is a leading Pacific and Indigenous researcher, educator, and cultural liaison driving impactful change across multiple sectors. She leads and contributes to major international projects on Indigenous and Pacific mobilities, leadership, and diaspora wellbeing, and is widely recognised for advancing culturally grounded research methodologies that centre Pacific relational knowledge and community strength.

Across higher education, community research, and the health sector, Ruth’s leadership amplifies Pacific voices and strengthens systemic responsiveness. As a Pacific Cultural Liaison with Queensland Health, she enhances cultural safety, influences practice, and advocates for Pacific families in clinical environments. In education, she leads the development of the AKO Model, a transformative framework improving Pasifika learner success across Queensland’s secondary and tertiary systems.

A respected research leader, Ruth publishes in high‑impact journals, guides national and international research collaborations, and serves as Lead Editor of the Moanaloloto Pacific Wellbeing series (Springer Nature), shaping the global conversation on Pacific wellbeing.
