BIO

Stanley Cheng is a member of the Science of Mathematics Education (SOME) Lab in the School of Education.  

He is a teacher-trained educational and developmental psychologist, cognitive and educational researcher, and PhD candidate. His research and professional interests focus on mathematical cognition, specific learning difficulties in numeracy and literacy, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and inclusive education. His doctoral research investigates how to identify and support early primary school students with mathematical learning difficulties. 

Stanley is also an AHPRA Psychology Board-approved supervisor with extensive experience supporting educators and psychologists across a range of settings, from frontline clinical practice to system-level service delivery. Previously, Stanley worked as a subject matter expert in the Victorian Department of Education's central office, specialising in ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia. In this role, he contributed to policy development, statewide strategic planning and projects, and provided consultation, professional learning, and resource development to support educators across Victoria.
