BIO

I am Program Manager and Engagement Lead on the Murray Darling - Water and Environment Research Program, a $20m Commonwealth Funded four year research program, led by La Trobe and the CSIRO. In am also an Honorary Research Fellow in the Centre for the Study of the Inland, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, involved in the academic Climate Change Network at La Trobe and an adjunct member of the La Trobe Climate Adaptation Lab. I have worked as an academic and in a professional capacity in the University sector for many years. I taught (mostly) full time in the social and political sciences while completing my PhD with my research in natural resource management and political ecology.

I then moved into research management and developed advanced capability in research development and management in the University sector with high levels of policy, conceptual and strategic thinking, relationship management and team leadership. I have significant experience at both central and faculty levels with advanced understanding of successful industry engagement. Since 2016 I have been working in a range of senior research management, policy and mentoring roles at La Trobe University.

In parallel, I have developed a strong track record in artistic projects around the climate crisis as songwriter, musician, producer, communicator, visual artist and writer. I work at the intersection of science, culture and art. My major project is Music for a Warming World (www.musicforawarmingworld.org). In 2019 I set up the Melbourne Musicians Climate Crisis Network (https://www.musicforawarmingworld.org/musicians-network).

These days, everything I do is run through the Climate Urgency Test: will it make a positive difference to our collective future and will I be able to defend this to my grandchildren?
