BIO
In 2016, I completed my Ph.D. in psychology, investigating online motor control in primary school children. Research into children's movement problems, as seen in conditions such as Developmental Coordination Disorder, is an area that I continue to investigate. I also conduct research to evaluate the stigma associated with depression in male dominated industries such as construction, mining and sport, as well as the link between occupational burnout and psychological distress in professional coaches and umpires
As an adjunct to my research, I worked as a crisis counsellor; skills and knowledge from my experience are integrated into subjects within the post-graduate Rehabilitation Counselling courses. My teaching approach is to enhance the learning experience of students by presenting them with relevant theory, case studies and encourage critical thinking when evaluating research.
