BIO

Her name is Ngoc Nguyen. She is a PhD candidate at the La Trobe University, based in the Judith Lumley Centre within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Her research focuses on bodily autonomy, reproductive justice, reproductive governance, and gendered social inequalities, particularly within the Vietnamese and Asia-Pacific contexts.

She was awarded the Chevening Scholarship to complete an MA in Gender Studies at the University of Sussex. Before commencing her PhD, Ngoc accumulated nearly a decade of professional experience in gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), migration, youth empowerment, and gender-based violence prevention in Vietnam.

Ngoc has worked with civil society organisations, international development programmes, and research projects funded by organisations including Plan International, Oxfam, CARE International, USAID, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Her work spans project coordination, qualitative research, training and facilitation, advocacy, and community engagement with adolescents, migrants, ethnic minority communities, and LGBTQIA+ populations.
