Dr Ujjwal Krishna is the Policy Advisor at the Australian Council for International Development. With over ten years’ experience bridging research and policy, he focuses on the political economy of development in the Indo-Pacific. He studied the use of evidence in decision-making while embedded with the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in the Office of the Chief Economist and Governance and Education Sections. Ujjwal has worked at The Asia Foundation, the University of Melbourne, and the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations. He also held research roles at the University of Birmingham, the University of Oxford, and the Institute of Development Studies. He currently holds honorary fellowships at the Australia India Institute and the Centre for Human Security and Social Change, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Australian Disability and Development Consortium. Ujjwal received a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Delhi, an MA in Development Studies (with Distinction) from the University of Sussex, and a PhD in International Development (Political Economy) from La Trobe University, which he attended on a scholarship from the Australian Government.
