Marisa has more than 25 years of experience teaching and leading agricultural education programs across Australian universities. Her teaching career began as a laboratory demonstrator and teaching assistant during her postgraduate studies and has since progressed through a range of academic roles, including tutor, lecturer, subject coordinator, and course coordinator at the University of Melbourne, The University of Queensland, and La Trobe University.

Throughout her career, Marisa has been committed to developing engaging, industry-relevant learning experiences that equip students with both scientific knowledge and practical skills. She has led major curriculum redevelopment initiatives, including the redesign of first-, second-, and third-year agronomy courses at The University of Queensland, integrating industry engagement, experiential learning, and hands-on field-based training. She also co-developed a field agronomy course at La Trobe University, providing students with practical experience in real-world agricultural systems.

Her teaching practice spans both on-campus and online delivery, with extensive experience designing and coordinating courses for diverse student cohorts across multiple modes of study. Marisa's teaching philosophy centres on connecting scientific principles with practical agricultural challenges, ensuring graduates are well prepared for careers in the rapidly evolving agricultural sector.

Marisa currently serves as Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Agriculture at La Trobe University. She is an active member of the Australian Council of Deans of Agriculture Teaching and Learning Academy and plays a leadership role in advancing agricultural education nationally. In February 2026, she organised and chaired the successful AgEd26 Agricultural Education Symposium, which brought together university educators from across Australia to share innovative teaching practices, discuss emerging challenges in agricultural education, and strengthen collaboration across the sector.
